Catching Fire

One of the year’s most anticipated films is the second installment in the Hunger Games franchise, Catching Fire. Lionsgate has released the Capitol Couture Portrait Series featuring the main actors in costumes designed by Trish Summerville.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling series, The Hunger Games films take place in a not-too-distant future in which North American society has collapsed and been replaced by Panem, in which every year two teenagers from each of the country’s 12 districts are summoned to the corrupt Capitol to participate in the deadly Hunger Games, a spectacle televised throughout the land.

In the second film in the series, “Catching Fire,” Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence will return as the heroine, Katniss. Her character and Peeta, played by Josh Hutcherson, travel on a victory tour for winning the first Hunger Games but are forced back into a special games called the Quarter Quell.

Lenny Kravitz will return as mentor to Katniss, once again playing the role of Cinna. With Amandla Stenberg’s departure in the first film, the franchise was in need of a color infusion. In steps none other than Jeffrey Wright who will play Beetee. The Tony Award and Black Reel Award winner’s character will be the resident electrical expert and former victor from District 3. The character is nicknamed “Volts” by another victor during the 75th annual Hunger Games.

The film is currently shooting in Hawaii and will open in theaters over Thanksgiving weekend on November 22.
